Heavy-duty Towing
Stay put and simply wait for the truck towing service if you didn’t break down on the road. Otherwise, place flares or safety cones around it to warn other drivers.
You generally don’t have to do much except wait once a towing company has answered you. Trying to tow your vehicle yourself or find alternative means will likely cause further damage.
Maximum towing capacity varies per vehicle. Some pickups can tow up to 8000 pounds while medium-duty trucks generally pull within 10,000 to 26,000 pounds. Our heavy-duty tow trucks tow anything above 26,000 and usually within 50,000.
Keep in mind that the regular, manufacturer-provided hitch can’t be used to tow your vehicle’s max capacity. You would need a goose neck/fifth wheel for that.
Want to know your vehicle’s tow capacity? Use our towing calculator.
Yes. Our operators and tow trucks are ready to roll 24/7.
Being stranded is not just embarrassing, it ruins plans and can affect your health. We know people in these situations want to get help as soon as possible, so we react accordingly.
It depends. An integrated tow truck is your best option for towing large trucks. Flatbeds can be handy too, but only if the truck is within their max tow capacity.
Flatbeds are ideal for long-distance towing as they allow smoother transport. That said, they are best used for heavy equipment, SUVs, box trucks, and buses.
Yes. Every new driver receives intensive specialized training at the beginning. Then they are paired with an experienced driver for a while until they can complete every aspect of the job with first-rate competence.

Medium Duty
There’s the manufacturer’s rated towing capacity, which you’ll find in your vehicle’s manual, and the maximum towing capacity, which is a closer estimate of what your truck can actually tow (and what you’re looking for).
The max tow capacity depends on a few things: your truck’s configuration, how much weight it already carries, and how the load’s weight is distributed.
To determine towing capacity:
- Calculate the combined weight of your vehicle and the trailer when loaded as the manufacturer instructed. This is called the GCWR (gross combined weight rating)
- Subtract the vehicle’s curb weight—your truck’s weight after it’s loaded with fuel (gas or diesel)— from the GCWR. The sum is your maximum towing capacity.
Yes. We can get you back on the road with fuel deliveries, battery jumpstarts, flat tire changes, and key lockouts.
What we charge depends on:
- The type of vehicle towed
- Type of tow truck required
- The distance traveled.
- Time of the day
For short distances, we typically charge a standard tow rate of $80 per mile. But the actual cost eventually boils down to the above-mentioned factors.

Light-duty Towing
An automatic front-wheel drive should be towed with the front wheels off the ground to avoid overheating the transmission fluid, which could cause serious damage.
Rear-wheel drives need the rear wheels to be off the ground. An all-wheel drive or electric vehicle is best towed by a flatbed truck.
Yes. You can ask the operator to tow your vehicle to your preferred location. Keep in mind we charge $4 for every mile our towing truck transports your car, but the first mile is free.
Not with the right equipment and an experienced driver at the wheel. If your car is towed by a wheel lift or dolly, it will reach your destination with zero further damage unless the operator drives roughly.
Our drivers are trained to drive with supreme caution, alertness, and precision. If your car can be flat towed, then flatbeds and roll-backs are particularly safe. They are also the best options for long-distance tows and cars with low ground clearance.

Private Property Towing
Not in Wisconsin. If the vehicle is parked on your lot illegally and the tow follows due procedure, you won’t pay. The vehicle owner pays the towing fees when they retrieve the car.
No. Wisconsin law prohibits a tow company from offering money or commissions for towing to property owners. It keeps the process fair and legal. Violating this rule could result in penalties for both parties.
If your lot has posted signage that meets state requirements, you can call a tow company directly. No police needed. But if there’s no signage or the vehicle is blocking a driveway, law enforcement must be contacted.
Motorcycle Towing
The best way to tow your motorcycle is with a flatbed truck equipped for bikes. The truck should be equipped with wheel chocks and proper tie-down straps. It should never be pulled by the handlebars or strapped at odd angles. Bike tow trucks have loading systems that keep the bike upright, preventing it from tipping or shifting. Towing with the wrong setup can crack fairings and put stress on your suspension.
It’s possible. But it’s generally not recommended, especially for long distances or heavy bikes like Harleys. Towing with a smaller vehicle only works with the right anchors and tie-downs. Even then, you need to load it right or it’ll tip in motion. You should also only do this if you’re experience. Otherwise, leave it to a motorcycle towing company.
Yes, towing can damage a motorcycle. But only if it’s done wrong. Proper towing done with a flatbed generally doesn’t damage bikes. Some common mistakes that lead to damage include over-tightening straps in the wrong place, which can strain the frame and suspension. Also, if the bike is not secured properly, it can shift or fall off.
Exotic Car Towing
Expect to pay more than a standard tow. Most exotic car towing starts around $150 and can climb past $300 depending on distance and type of service. Always ask for an itemized quote. We charge a standard rate of $4 per mile for car towing, but additional services tailored for exotic cars can increase the cost.
Flatbed towing is safest. Classics often have soft frames and low bumpers; features that will be easily damaged by tow chains and wheel lifts. When you call to tow a car, ask if they have flatbeds and if the trucks are built for vintage loads. The wrong rig can undo years of restoration in seconds.
It can. Warranties don’t usually cover damage caused by improper towing or transport. If your drivetrain locks up or a tie-down point rips out, the cost could be yours. Always use a certified, well-vetted roadside assistance with insurance and experience. This reduces the risk of damage that can void your warranty.
Winch Out Service
Yes. We have wreckers with heavy-duty winches that can handle semis, box trucks, and vans.
You need a winch with a pulling capacity that’s at least 1.5 times your car’s weight. So, for a typical 4,000-pound sedan, you’re looking at a winch rated for at least 6,000 pounds. Got an SUV or a truck? You’ll want to up that to an 8,000 to 10,000-pound winch to be safe. The bigger the winch, the easier it’ll haul your ride out.
Our winch out costs depend on several factors, including how far our tow truck has to travel to get to you, how far off the road you are, the time of day, how deep your car’s stuck, and the severity of the situation.
A WreckMaster certification is awarded to roadside operators and technicians that have passed first-class training standards in the towing industry. With the WreckMaster-certified experts on our team, you’re guaranteed top-notch skill and professionalism with our roadside services.
Roadside Assistance
Our operators strive for an ETA of 30 minutes or less, but our response time really depends on your distance from us and the current demand.
You will need jumper cables and another driver with a running car to help jumpstart it. Before trying to jumpstart, check that your battery is in good condition (no cracks, leakages, or bulges). Otherwise, a jumpstart may not work, or it could even be dangerous.
If you manage to find a willing driver with jumper cables, connect both cars’ batteries with the jumper cables—red cables to positive terminals, black cables to negative terminals—then start the working car. Start yours after about 5 minutes.
If you can’t find jumper cables and another driver, or if a jumpstart won’t work, call Speedy Peedy Towing & Recovery. We’ll respond quickly and provide the help you need.
We can tow any distance as long as your pickup location is within 20 miles of us.
A WreckMaster certification is one of the highest training standards in the towing industry. It’s hard proof of our dedication to professionalism and excellent roadside services. The certification guarantees that we only work with highly trained and equipped experts.
Car Lockout
About 5 – 10 minutes. This depends on the type of vehicle and the level of security. The process will take longer if it’s an exotic car or a vehicle with custom, high-level security.
Not if you leave it to the experts. DIYing with improvised tools like a fishing line or a clothes hanger is an easy way to cause some damage. Speedy Peedy works with specialized locksmith experts who use advanced tools to ensure scratch-free entry.

Flat Tire Service
The quick (and best) answer is O miles. Driving on a flat, even over a short distance, can destroy the sidewall and render the tire useless. But if you must, do not drive longer than 2 kilometers and faster than 20 km/h. Even then, there’s still a chance this will damage your rims and essential components like your brake lines and suspension parts.
Only drive a flat for completely necessary maneuvers, like moving out of oncoming traffic. Unless it’s a run-flat tire, then you can drive it for close to 50 miles and at a speed of less than 50 km/h.
Properly plugged and patched? Then it can last the tire’s lifespan. A poorly plugged tire or DIY fix won’t last that long. A patched tire will also last longer than a plugged tire. But the most reliable option is a plug-and-patch combo.
Most manufacturers recommend tire replacement after 6 years. Because tires’ rubber compounds degrade over time, their structural integrity weakens the longer they last. At this point, the tire is more likely to blow out, even if it still has a lot of tread left.
Jump Start
A jump start won’t cut it in this case. If you want your car moving again, you’ll need to replace the battery.
Call Speedy Peedy for quick assistance. We’ll send our techs to help ASAP.
A jump start takes about 10-20 minutes.
Use a jump starter for emergencies—it gets you back on the road fast.
Battery chargers slowly charge your battery, like charging your phone. They need an electrical outlet and aren’t for quick fixes.
While we strive to arrive at your location in 30 minutes or less, our response time really depends on your location (your distance from us) and the current demand.
Waukesha
We base it on size/type of your vehicle and mileage. The complexity of the job and added services will also affect prices. Local tows typically have a flat hook-up fee plus a per-mile rate, while recoveries or after-hours jobs may involve added labor costs. You can calculate your towing estimate using our towing calculator.
Yes. U.S. military personnel and veterans get a $20 coupon on tows or roadside services. You must provide your military ID at the time of service.
Tows typically run between $75–$150 for hook-up, plus $5–$8 per mile. Pricing varies, so always ask for a quote up front.
Always check for parking signs and don’t parked in unmarked spaces. Make sure you get photo proof of your parked vehicle too. Some tow trucks show up right after a breakdown or accident, be cautious of those and always verify them first (check certifications and online reviews). If you’ve been towed unfairly, request a written receipt and file a complaint with the local authorities.
Wauwatosa
Yes, our roadside assistance service tows your car when it can’t be fixed on the spot. If you’ve have a dead engine, been in an accident, or run into a mechanical issue too big for a quick fix, we’ll tow it.
Of course. If you need your car taken home instead of a repair shop, just provide the address and any special instructions. We charge $4 for every mile our towing truck transports your car, but the first mile is free.
Sure, we can give you a free ride home if you need one.
Typically, no. Under Wisconsin law, if a vehicle is not authorized to park on your private property, its owner will bear the charges of towing it off your property. These charges include removal, storage, and associated service fees. We simply keep the vehicle in storage until the owner comes to pay and retrieve it. If the owner doesn’t retrieve it after 30 days, the vehicle can be regarded as abandoned.
