Your Electric Car Tow Needs a Flatbed & a Driver Who Knows Why
You didn’t spend $60,000 to trust your EV towing to a random tow truck that drags it down on two wheels. That spinning drivetrain can fry the inverter and run up a $15,000 repair bill.
We can flatbed tow your electric vehicle the way manufacturers actually approve. Need to tow a Tesla, Rivian, Bolt, or any other electric vehicle? One call gets you a WreckMaster-certified crew that already knows your car.
Why the Wrong Tow Service Costs EV Owners a Fortune
Gas cars are forgiving. Call any tow truck and drag it away with hooks. EVs are not built for that.
Every EV motor stays permanently connected to its wheels. There’s no true neutral that severs that link. The moment those wheels spin on a conventional tow, the motors generate electricity with nowhere to go.
That surge of back-EMF current floods the inverter and battery management system with energy they can’t absorb at rest.
So, the inverter fries.

The battery pack overheats. And the drivetrain is gone.
- Tesla’s drive unit replacement: $6,000 to $15,000.
- Your warranty: void the moment improper towing causes it.
4 Reasons Your EV Needs More Than Regular Roadside Assistance

EVs convert braking energy back into the battery. Under load, that system misfires unpredictably. An untrained roadside assistance driver won’t catch it until the damage is done.
In an accident, a compromised battery pack needs to be electrically isolated before car towing. If this step is skipped, your EV and the crew are at risk.
A standard wheel-lift truck towing approach comes in at an angle that scrapes the EV’s underbody. The battery casing sits low. One bad approach can add a battery enclosure replacement to the invoice.
When the 12-volt system drains completely, the touchscreen goes dark. Tow mode can’t be activated. Our towing company carries wheel skates; rollers that go under each tire so your dead EV loads with zero-wheel rotation. Which is basically much safer.
Why Our Local Towing Company Beats Every Wrecker Service Near You
Plenty of tow truck companies near you will pick up the phone. Not all of them should touch your EV.
We Arrive Within 30 Minutes
Our central West Allis location puts a tow truck near you fast. We cover Brookfield, Wauwatosa, Waukesha, Greenfield, New Berlin, Franklin, Hales Corners, and Muskego.
400 Miles of Flatbed Tow Coverage
The nearest Tesla service center is in Glendale. Rivian wants the car in Menomonee Falls. Our long-distance towing gets it there. Wherever you’re stranded in Milwaukee or Waukesha County, we’re the nearest towing company that shows up prepared.
24-Hour Towing Service, Every Day
Your battery doesn’t care that it’s 11pm on a Tuesday. That’s why our 24-hour tow service runs 365 days a year, including during Wisconsin winters. When AAA roadside assistance has you waiting three hours, we’re already en route.

Your EV Died? Do This Immediately
If your EV stops moving on Hwy 164 or I-894:
Turn on hazard lights and pull over.
Call 414-234-5900 immediately. Tell us your exact location (street names, mile markers help!), your car’s model, and what the problem is.
Tell the dispatcher it’s an EV and request a flatbed.
A wheel-lift is not acceptable for electric vehicle towing, no matter what they tell you.
Activate tow mode before the screen goes dark.
Tesla: Controls > Service > Towing. No screen response? Call us; we will handle it.
Stay inside on highways.
Standing outside on a Wisconsin interstate is the bigger hazard.
Know your coverage.
Tesla’s roadside program covers towing during the warranty period. Out of warranty or out of charge? That’s on you.
Saving a reliable tow truck service in your phone before you need it is the cheapest insurance you’ll never pay for.
EV Towing FAQs
Yes. A dead 12-volt battery kills the screen, which means tow mode can’t be activated. We use wheel skates so a completely dead EV loads onto the flatbed without the wheels ever spinning.
Some call it “regen towing.” Spinning wheels generate small amounts of electricity. But it risks overloading the battery management system and voids your warranty. Better to tow you directly to a Level 2 charger or Supercharger, which we do.
Flatbed towing done correctly does not void your warranty. Improper methods like flat towing with wheels on the ground or hook-and-chain rigging can void drivetrain and battery coverage.
